Golmaal Returns is a Bollywood film which was released on 23 October 2008. It was directed by Rohit Shetty, who has made Golmaal 1,2 and 3. It is the sequel to the 2006 hit Golmaal, its prequel being Golmaal - Fun Unlimited in 2005. The movie stars Ajay Devgn, Tusshar Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor in lead roles with Amrita Rao appearing in an item number alongside Ritesh Deshmukh for the first time. The movie is based on events that happened when the three Golmaals returned to Bombay in 2008. The film was shot in Paris, France and Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Aamir Khan has appeared in the song "Golmaal Returns" which is played during the credits of the movie. This film broke all records of opening day of Bollywood movies of 2008 by raking in Rs 3.5  crore(Indian Rupees) at the box office on its opening day itself. The film's soundtrack was composed by Ila Malik with lyrics penned by Gajendra Chauhan and Vivek Narayan Jha, while Roop Kumar Rathod has helped compose its background score. The movie was released with the highest ever print and advertising cost of Rs. 16  crore (Indian Rupees). The film is a remake of Telugu film "Kathanayakudu", starring Jr. NTR and Srihari, which was also remade in Bengali by Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee as "Krishnarjuna" with Dev, Koel Mallick, Paoli Dam, Parambrata Chatterjee, Ananya Chatterjee & Ashish Vidyarthi in the lead roles. The movie has been remade into Tamil as "Pagal Nilavu" starring Dhanush, Nayantara. and Arya. The movie has also been remade into Kannada as "Golmaal: The New Generation" starring Shivarajkumar and Ramya Krishnan. The film has been dubbed into Malayalam as "Golmal". The third installment of the Golmaal franchise was released on 12 February 2013, titled Golmaal 4. The film was directed by Rohit Shetty and it stars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Sanjay Dutt and Paresh Rawal to replace Tusshar Kapoor, who had earlier played the role of Ajay Devgn's younger brother in the first two films. On 30 June 2013, it was announced that sequel Golmaal 4 is in the process of being made and will be directed by Rohit Shetty. The film will star Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor and Shreyas Talpade and will release on Diwali 2014. Other than Golmaal: Fun Unlimited and Golmaal Returns, there is a third movie by the same team of director Rohit Shetty and producer Boney Kapoor.
